Nor'easter collapses homes in Outer Banks, NC
A powerful nor'easter has caused significant damage along the coastlines of the Carolinas and Virginia, leading to the collapse of four oceanfront homes in the Outer Banks, North Carolina. According to Tyler Roys, an AccuWeather senior meteorologist, the storm brought heavy snow, powerful wind gusts, and blowing sand to the region. Some coastal communities experienced up to 18 inches of snow. The homes that collapsed were unoccupied and privately owned, marking the first such incidents in the Outer Banks this year. Coastal erosion has been a persistent issue, with 31 homes collapsing on Seashore beaches since 2020. The Cape Hatteras National Seashore has advised the public to avoid the collapse sites due to hazardous debris.
