Cooler air follows severe thunderstorms in Northeast
The Northeast is set to experience a refreshing break from the summer heat as a surge of cooler, less humid air sweeps across the region on Monday, bringing temperatures down by 15–20 degrees Fahrenheit. Before this welcome change, however, the area can expect locally heavy, gusty, and potentially severe thunderstorms into Sunday night. The primary risks associated with these storms include intense rainfall that could lead to short-lived urban flash flooding. Additionally, some storms may produce strong wind gusts, which could cause tree damage and isolated power outages.
