Experts lower Mount Spurr eruption probability
Experts have significantly lowered the probability of a near-term eruption of Mount Spurr, a volcano located about 80 miles west of Anchorage, Alaska. This announcement comes after thorough analysis and monitoring by the Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO), a collaborative effort between the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute. Mount Spurr, part of the Aleutian volcanic arc, is one of Alaska's most closely watched volcanoes due to its proximity to populated areas and its history of explosive eruptions.
