Atacama prepares for vibrant desert bloom
The Atacama Desert, one of the driest places on Earth, is poised to transform into a vibrant tapestry of color this mid-September. Following early August rains, Chile’s Llanos de Challe National Park and surrounding regions are preparing for the stunning desert bloom, an event expected to last from late September to mid-November, with its peak beauty occurring in October. This extraordinary phenomenon is triggered by winter precipitation, which awakens long-dormant seeds lying beneath the arid soil.
