Phoenix hit by massive dust storm
A massive haboob, or dust storm, swept through the Phoenix metropolitan area on Monday, severely reducing visibility and causing widespread power outages. Over 15,000 residents were left without electricity as the storm raged through the region. Motorists reported near-zero visibility conditions, with strong winds buffeting vehicles and making travel treacherous. The immense dust cloud blanketed the city, grounding flights at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and disrupting ground transportation.
