Hopes fade for stranded mountaineer Nagovitsyna
Hopes are fading for mountaineer Natalia Nagovitsyna, who has been stranded on Kyrgyzstan’s Victory Peak since August 12. Nagovitsyna, who suffered a broken leg, has been at the mercy of extreme weather conditions at an altitude of 24,400 feet. Despite the heroic efforts of fellow climbers who reached her with essential supplies, continuous severe weather has thwarted all attempts at evacuation. Tragically, the challenging conditions also led to the death of one rescuer, highlighting the immense risks involved in high-altitude operations.
