Severe storms threaten Plains, Upper Mississippi Valley
Severe storms are on the horizon for the Plains and extending into other regions of the United States. An Enhanced Risk (Level 3 out of 5) of severe thunderstorms is predicted for areas of the Northern Plains on Thursday, with the threat moving into the Upper Mississippi Valley by Friday. A passing front will initiate these storms, bringing with them frequent lightning, potentially damaging winds exceeding 65 knots, large hail, and the possibility of a few tornadoes.
