Hurricane moving away, hazards remain widespread
Hurricane Erin is gradually moving away from the coastline, but the danger isn't over yet. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is still cautioning that hazardous surf and strong rip currents will continue to affect the U.S. East Coast, the Bahamas, Bermuda, and Atlantic Canada throughout the weekend. While storm surge flooding is subsiding in North Carolina, the aftermath includes significant beach erosion and ongoing beach closures. Residents and visitors are urged to remain cautious and heed local advisories.
