Hazardous conditions and beach closures expected
Hurricane Erin is currently impacting the East Coast, creating hazardous conditions for beachgoers. Life-threatening surf, large waves, and dangerous rip currents are expected to persist through at least August 21. Authorities have issued mandatory evacuations for parts of North Carolina’s Outer Banks due to the increased risk. Several beaches along the coast are now closed to the public to ensure safety.
