Two Systems Join Dexter in the Atlantic Watch List
Published Aug 4, 2025
Apart from Dexter, two other systems are being monitored in the Atlantic. A tropical wave off Africa could gradually develop, with a 50% chance of formation by week’s end. Another low-pressure area may form off the U.S. Southeast coast in a few days, with a 30% chance of development this week as it drifts west or northwest.
Two systems plus Dexter under observation
Two potential weather systems are currently being monitored in the Atlantic, joining Tropical Storm Dexter on the weather maps.
Minimal showers now, development possible later
The first system is a tropical wave emanating from the west coast of Africa. As of now, it's only generating minimal shower activity. However, forecasts indicate that environmental conditions are expected to become more conducive for development in the coming days. There's a medium chance (50%) that this system could evolve into a tropical depression as it drifts west-northwestward across the central tropical Atlantic over the next week.
Development possible off the southeastern coast
Meanwhile, another broad area of low pressure is anticipated to form a few hundred miles off the southeastern coast of the United States within the next couple of days. Gradual development of this system is also possible as it meanders westward to northwestward during the middle to later part of the week. However, the immediate chance of formation within the next 48 hours remains low for both systems.
Vigilance urged for southeastern US residents
Residents along the southeastern United States coastline and those in the path of the westward-moving tropical wave should stay informed about the latest weather updates. While the immediate threat is low, the potential for these systems to develop into more significant weather events necessitates vigilance and preparedness. Stay tuned to your local weather forecasts and heed any warnings issued by meteorological authorities. With Tropical Storm Dexter already present, it's a timely reminder that the Atlantic hurricane season is active, and readiness is key to ensuring safety.
