Hawaiʻi Island is proactively addressing rising temperatures through a data-driven approach. Measurements near Hilo International Airport show an increasing number of days exceeding 80°F (27°C) annually. Molly Dolphin from the County of Hawaiʻi Office of Sustainability, Climate, Equity, and Resilience, has observed these changes and initiated a partnership with Vibrant Hawaiʻi to deploy heat and humidity sensors across 12 locations to address data gaps in rural areas.
