Severe winter weather led to multiple traffic accidents on the Hellisheiði Pass in southwest Iceland, resulting in temporary road closures. Blizzard-like conditions caused several vehicles to slide off the road, prompting a swift response from emergency services. According to RÚV, eight vehicles were reported off the road, with two separate two-car collisions near the ski lodge in Hveradalur. The South Iceland Police confirmed that three individuals were hospitalized for examination, though their injuries were not serious. Rescue crews worked efficiently to clear the route and assist stranded drivers, and the road has since been reopened.
