Truck driver dies in Wisconsin lightning strike
In a tragic turn of events, Peter Garamone, a truck driver in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, became the first lightning fatality in the United States for the year 2026. The incident occurred at a Kwik Trip gas station, where Garamone was struck while exiting. Despite managing to call 911, he later died at the hospital. This event has been officially recognized by the National Lightning Safety Council, highlighting the ongoing dangers associated with thunderstorms and lightning. Last year, the U.S. recorded 21 such fatalities.
