Toronto is currently grappling with significant environmental challenges resulting from the accumulation of massive snow mountains throughout the city. These snow piles, mixed with road salt and pollutants, pose a long-term threat to local ecosystems. The city experienced a record-breaking single-day snowfall in late January, leading to the removal of approximately 264,000 tonnes of snow from roads and sidewalks. These snow mountains, some reaching nearly 100 feet in height, are slowly melting and releasing contaminants into the surrounding waterways.
