Tropical storms cause severe flooding in Mexico
Torrential rains from two tropical storms have ravaged central and eastern Mexico, triggering severe flooding and landslides that have left approximately 300 communities isolated. The states of Veracruz, Hidalgo, and Puebla have been the hardest hit, reporting at least 64 deaths and 67 missing persons. The relentless downpour has overwhelmed rivers and drainage systems, leading to widespread inundation of homes, businesses, and agricultural lands. Landslides, exacerbated by the saturated soil, have blocked roads and cut off access to numerous villages, hindering rescue and relief efforts.
