Freezing temperatures threaten Gulf Coast region
A strong high-pressure system is bringing freezing temperatures to the Gulf Coast, with freeze warnings in effect from southeastern Texas to northern Florida. Residents are urged to protect sensitive vegetation, exposed pipes, and outdoor pets as overnight temperatures are expected to drop below freezing. The National Weather Service has issued freeze warnings for a large portion of the Gulf Coast, including areas in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. These warnings indicate that temperatures are expected to fall to 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Celsius) or lower for several hours, posing a threat to vulnerable plants and infrastructure.
