Two skiers were successfully rescued from the Iceland Highlands after encountering severe weather conditions during a cross-country ski trip. The skiers, who had embarked on a five-day journey from Akureyri, found themselves in distress due to rapidly deteriorating weather. They sought refuge in an emergency shelter near Þórisvatn Lake along the Sprengisandur Route.
