Severe freezes cause over $3 billion losses
Florida's agriculture sector is facing a major crisis due to severe winter freezes, with estimated losses exceeding $3 billion. The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services reports that two major freeze events, in late December/early January and February, impacted nearly all of the state, excluding the Florida Keys. These unprecedented cold temperatures have devastated a sector that usually benefits from mild winters.
