Two offshore earthquakes cause concern, no damage
Two earthquakes struck off the Oregon coast early Wednesday morning, causing concern but thankfully no reported damage. The first quake, registering a magnitude of 4.8, occurred at 6:42 a.m. The second, more powerful quake, reached a magnitude of 5.4 and struck at 7:00 a.m. according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Both quakes were centered offshore, minimizing their impact on populated areas.
