High fire danger prompts weather watches
The National Weather Service has issued fire weather watches for multiple counties across Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, and New Mexico due to high fire danger. Strong winds and high temperatures are creating conditions that are ripe for wildfires. In Oklahoma, winds are predicted to reach up to 40 mph with temperatures hitting 99°F (37°C), while some areas of Texas could experience temperatures exceeding 100°F (38°C) and winds gusting up to 35 mph. The combination of dry air and strong winds significantly increases the risk of rapid fire spread.
