Robotic vessels deployed to study hurricane formation
NOAA has deployed five robotic, uncrewed research vessels from the U.S. Virgin Islands to investigate hurricane formation and behavior. These vessels, known as C-Stars, are the result of a collaboration with the University of Southern Mississippi and Oshen. Powered by solar and wind energy, the C-Stars are designed to collect real-time data to enhance hurricane forecasting accuracy.
