Survivor recounts harrowing escape from deadly avalanche
Isabelle Solange Thaon, 54, recounted her terrifying experience of surviving the deadly avalanche on Mount Yalung Ri in Nepal, an event that claimed the lives of seven climbers, including her husband, Christian Manfred. In a harrowing account, Thaon described how she and another French climber, Didier Armand, were forced to “swim through snow” while simultaneously evading falling rocks to escape the avalanche’s destructive path. Tragically, several climbers were buried under as much as 20 feet of snow.
