Connecticut has launched a new climate-risk mapping tool designed to help residents evaluate the climate-related risks to their properties, including flooding, wildfires, and high winds. This tool, created in partnership with private risk-modeling firms, aims to provide more accurate and current risk assessments compared to the state's existing flood maps, some of which are decades old. The impetus for the tool came from severe flooding in western Connecticut in 2024, which highlighted the discrepancies between mapped risks and actual experiences.
