Hurricanes cause surge in baby sea turtles
Hurricanes Humberto and Imelda have caused a surge in baby sea turtles washing ashore along Florida's coastline. The powerful waves generated by these storms are stranding vulnerable hatchlings, pushing them back onto the beaches where they become trapped in seaweed or sustain injuries. The Marine Science Center is currently rehabilitating approximately 80 of these turtles, providing them with the care they need to recover. The goal is to release them back into the ocean once conditions improve and the waters are safer.
