Global warming reduces physical activity by 2050
A groundbreaking study in The Lancet Global Health reveals that rising global temperatures are projected to drastically reduce physical activity levels worldwide by 2050, increasing health risks for millions. Researchers analyzed data from 2000-2022 across 156 countries, projecting the impact of rising temperatures on human movement. The findings indicate that for every additional month with average temperatures above 82°F (27.8°C), physical inactivity could increase by 1.5 percentage points globally. Low and middle-income countries are expected to be disproportionately affected.
