Tornado and thunderstorm warnings in effect now
The Washington D.C. area is currently experiencing severe weather conditions, with both tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings in effect. According to FOX 5 DC, a series of alerts have been issued as a line of intense storms moves through the region. Tornado warnings are specifically in place for portions of Maryland and Virginia, including Montgomery and Loudoun Counties, where severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes are tracking northeast at speeds of up to 55 mph. In addition to the tornado threat, wind advisories have been issued for several counties, with wind gusts expected to reach up to 60 mph. The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for the D.C. area until 7 p.m. EDT, indicating a continued risk of dangerous weather conditions throughout the day.
