An atmospheric river will continue to affect the Northwest, with lighter moisture expected in central Washington and north-central Oregon.
The weather system spreading into the Plains and Great Lakes will bring mixed precipitation, lake-effect snow, and colder temperatures nationwide.
Residents should prepare for potential weather-related impacts, including slippery roads and reduced visibility in the Plains and significant snowfall in the Great Lakes region.
Reduced intensity atmospheric river in the Northwest
The Northwest will experience a continued impact from an atmospheric river, though with reduced intensity compared to the previous week's persistent rain and mountain snow. Central Washington and north-central Oregon are expected to receive lighter moisture, ranging from approximately half an inch to two inches, while the eastern regions of the coastal states will remain predominantly dry. Further inland, northern Idaho and western to central Montana will encounter rain or snow, depending on the elevation, with increased snowfall towards the east.
