Fire weather and winds across the Plains
Critical fire weather conditions and hazardous winds are anticipated across the northern and central Plains this Thursday and Friday, January 15–16. The National Weather Service has issued Red Flag Warnings for eastern Colorado and western Kansas. This is due to strong northwesterly winds combined with low humidity and dry fuels, creating a high risk of fire. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. These conditions can lead to rapid fire spread.
