Light rain expected in lower elevations of the Pacific Northwest, with accumulating snow in the Cascades and Northern Intermountain Region.
Another front approaches late Wednesday, bringing additional light rain to Northern California and continuing unsettled conditions.
Travelers advised to exercise caution due to reduced visibility and potentially icy conditions in mountainous areas.
Rain and snow through Wednesday morning
The Pacific Northwest is experiencing a series of moisture-rich disturbances, bringing rain and mountain snow through Wednesday morning. A weak front moving inland is responsible for the initial wave of precipitation. Lower elevations can expect mostly light rain, making for slick roads and damp conditions. Higher elevations, particularly across the Cascades and the Northern Intermountain Region, are forecast to receive accumulating snow. This snow will be beneficial for the ski season but may also create hazardous travel conditions.
