Northern Lights may be visible tonight due to solar winds interacting with Earth’s atmosphere.
NOAA and the U.K. Met Office predict minor to moderate geomagnetic storms, enhancing aurora visibility.
The Kp index is expected to peak at 5, indicating a good chance of seeing auroras in northern regions.
Dazzling auroras possible due to solar winds
Tonight could be a spectacular night for skywatchers as the Northern Lights may put on a dazzling display. Fast solar winds emanating from a coronal hole are expected to interact with Earth’s atmosphere, potentially creating visible auroras. According to NOAA and the U.K. Met Office, minor to moderate geomagnetic storms (G1–G2) are anticipated through Wednesday, increasing the likelihood of seeing the Northern Lights across Canada, Alaska, and the northern parts of the U.S.
