A major early-season winter storm is poised to blanket California's high-elevation Sierra Nevada with significant snowfall next week. Forecasters predict that areas above 6,500 to 7,000 feet will receive between 1 and 2 feet of snow. Lower elevations can expect up to 2 inches of rain. The National Weather Service has issued winter storm watches that will be in effect from Monday through Wednesday, cautioning residents and travelers about the potential for hazardous travel conditions, strong gusty winds, and the risk of flash flooding.
