Midwest rainfall leads to flooding in April
In early April 2025, the Midwest experienced significant rainfall that led to flooding in several areas. According to the Messenger-Inquirer, heavy rain patterns began on April 2 and persisted through April 4, exacerbating already high river levels from February. The Ohio and Green Rivers overflowed, inundating low-lying fields for over three weeks. Despite these challenges, the latter half of April provided favorable conditions for planting, allowing corn and soybean crops to emerge rapidly, in as few as seven days, which is notably faster than the typical two-week period required for emergence.
