Brazilian farmers have harvested 16% of their 2023/24 soybean crop as of last Thursday, according to agribusiness consultancy AgRural. This marks an increase of 6 percentage points from the previous week and slightly surpasses the 15% completion reported a year earlier. The harvesting efforts are primarily driven by activities in Mato Grosso state, where farmers are working during breaks in strong rainfall. However, producers in southern Mato Grosso do Sul and Rio Grande do Sul states are facing concerns due to drought and heat conditions. Additionally, the planting of Brazil's second corn crop has reached 22% of the estimated area, up from 20% a year earlier, while the first corn harvest has progressed to 15%, ahead of the 9% seen last year.
