Rare super fog creates hazardous conditions
A rare and potentially dangerous phenomenon known as “super fog” has descended upon southern Louisiana, creating hazardous conditions for drivers and residents alike. This super fog, a dense mixture of wildfire smoke and ground-level fog, has significantly reduced visibility, in some areas to less than a quarter of a mile. The National Weather Service has issued dense fog advisories for several parishes, including St. James, St. John, and Lafourche, where small wildfires are contributing to the smoky haze. Cities such as LaPlace, Baton Rouge, Gonzales, and Donaldsonville are experiencing the brunt of this weather event.
