Over 8,000 residents were evacuated in Taiwan as Typhoon Fung-wong brought torrential rain and severe flooding to the island. The typhoon, though weakened, caused significant disruption, particularly in Yilan, where floodwaters reached neck-deep levels, inundating over 1,000 homes in Suao. A staggering 25 inches of rain fell within a single day, leading to widespread closures of schools and businesses across southern Taiwan.
