Meteorologist apologizes for inaccurate severe weather forecast
Meteorologist Matthew Cappucci publicly apologized for an inaccurate severe weather forecast predicting significant storms along the Eastern Seaboard. The National Weather Service (NWS) had issued a rare level 4 out of 5 severe weather outlook for regions from northeastern South Carolina through central North Carolina, eastern Virginia, and southern Maryland, following tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings in the Midwest and South. Despite the high likelihood of damage suggested by the forecast, the region experienced mostly rain. Cappucci explained that while wind dynamics favored storm development, surface conditions lacked warmth and humidity, leading to his apology.
