Hurricane risk decreases significantly after September 25th
Experts say that after September 25th, the risk of hurricanes in Texas plummets, although the official hurricane season ends on November 30th. Historical data indicates a significant decrease in hurricane landfalls in South Texas and the Gulf Coast after this date. Over the past 125 years, only three late-season hurricanes have made landfall in Texas. This decline in risk is attributed to seasonal changes, including shifts in wind patterns, drier air, and cooler waters in the Gulf of Mexico, which collectively make conditions less favorable for hurricane formation and intensification.
