Iceland faces strong winds and heavy precipitation
The Icelandic Meteorological Office has issued yellow weather warnings for South Iceland and the Faxaflói Bay area as a deep low-pressure system advances from the southwest. This system is expected to bring strong winds and heavy precipitation, including snow, sleet, or rain, across much of the country later today and overnight. Wind speeds are forecasted to reach 18–23 meters per second, particularly overnight, which may lead to reduced visibility and challenging driving conditions. Earlier in the day, the south and west will experience windy conditions, though less severe, with southerly winds below 10 meters per second. The northeast is expected to have clearer weather. Daytime temperatures will hover around freezing, with frost expected in the eastern and northeastern regions.
