The Twin Cities are preparing for a major winter storm set to bring heavy snowfall and blizzard conditions, causing widespread flight disruptions. Expected to be one of the most significant storms of the season, it will impact the region from Saturday evening through Sunday. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has authorized the National Guard to aid in emergency operations. Snowfall rates are projected at 1 to 3 inches per hour, accumulating 12 to 18 inches across the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area, with some areas in Wisconsin potentially exceeding 18 inches. Blizzard warnings will be active Sunday morning and afternoon, featuring wind gusts of 30 to 50 mph, significantly reducing visibility and making travel dangerous.
