Landslide obliterates village after heavy rainfall
A devastating landslide struck western Sudan on Sunday, obliterating the village of Tarsin in the Marra Mountains following days of heavy rainfall. The Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM), which controls the area, reported that over 1,000 people perished, with only one survivor found. The village has been described as “completely leveled.” The SLM has appealed to the United Nations and international aid organizations for assistance in the recovery efforts, emphasizing that the victims include men, women, and children.
