Foundation pioneers disaster recovery after Nebraska tornadoes
Following the devastating tornadoes that struck eastern Nebraska on April 26, 2024, the Omaha Community Foundation has pioneered a disaster recovery approach. The tornadoes, which cut a 32-mile path and impacted nearly 1,000 homes, prompted the foundation to mobilize a comprehensive recovery effort. They raised $1.3 million in donations and established a structured recovery model known as the 'Blueprint for Resilient Recovery.'
