A recent report by the Advisory Board is urging the European Union to significantly strengthen its climate adaptation strategies in response to the increasing frequency and severity of extreme weather events. The report highlights that Europe is warming at twice the global average rate, making the region particularly vulnerable to a range of climate-related hazards. These hazards include more frequent and intense heatwaves, prolonged droughts, devastating wildfires, increased flooding, rising sea levels, and accelerated coastal erosion.
