Blizzard causes collapse of Fly's Eye Dome
A historic blizzard has resulted in the collapse of Buckminster Fuller's Fly's Eye Dome at the LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton, New York. This fiberglass structure, one of only five in existence, was designed as a model for affordable, portable housing. The significant snow accumulation proved too much for the dome, causing it to collapse entirely. The LongHouse Reserve is planning to either repair or rebuild the structure and has initiated a fundraising campaign to cover the associated costs.
