Tropical wave in the central Atlantic has a growing chance of becoming a tropical depression early next week.
The system is moving west at 10 mph and may approach the Lesser Antilles later in the week.
The National Hurricane Center gives the wave a 30% chance of forming in 48 hours and a 60% chance over seven days; residents should stay informed.
Tropical wave with increasing development chances
A tropical wave in the central Atlantic is gradually increasing its chances of development. Currently, shower and thunderstorm activity is limited due to the presence of dry air, which is keeping the short-term development potential low. The environmental conditions are only marginally favorable for significant intensification. However, forecasts indicate that a tropical depression could form early to mid-next week as the system continues its westward journey at approximately 10 mph.
