According to the National Weather Service, analyzed by The Washington Post, the storm affected 19 states, with snow accumulations exceeding 15 inches in many areas within a 72-hour period. The highest recorded snowfall was near Bonito Lake, New Mexico, where 31 inches fell over the same timeframe.
