NWS warns of extreme cold, hypothermia risk
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued urgent warnings for extreme cold and the risk of hypothermia across 15 U.S. states, including Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, and Virginia. Dangerously low wind chills are anticipated, with some areas in Alaska potentially experiencing temperatures plummeting to -70°F (-57°C). Even in Florida's Panhandle, wind chills could reach a frigid 9°F (-13°C), while parts of Virginia and West Virginia may face wind chills as low as -15°F (-26°C).
