Shelters open to protect vulnerable residents
As temperatures plummet, Fort Myers is opening cold-weather shelters to protect its vulnerable residents. The Salvation Army's Center of Hope is transforming into a temporary warming station and shelter, offering a refuge from the chill. This collaborative effort with Lee County agencies will be in effect from January 26 through February 2, 2026, providing much-needed relief during the cold snap.
