Recent storms devastate Hawai'i farms, millions in damage
Recent storms have caused over $7 million in damages to farms across Hawai'i, according to Agriculture Stewardship Hawai'i. An online dashboard tracks the impact of the storms, allowing farmers to report damages and seek assistance. The damage was initially estimated at $5 million, but a second Kona low brought additional rains, particularly affecting O'ahu, which was still recovering from a previous storm. The dashboard indicates that O'ahu, Maui, and Hawai'i Island have each reported around $2 million or more in damages, primarily to crops due to flooding and high winds. More than 1,000 acres of agricultural land have been impacted, with widespread damage reported by farmers.
