Major storm headed to Los Angeles area
Los Angeles is preparing for a significant storm forecasted to bring heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds starting Sunday night. The National Weather Service has issued warnings, particularly concerning the risk of debris flows in areas previously impacted by wildfires. Meteorologist Carol Ciliderti highlights that even brief periods of intense rainfall could trigger these flows. Rainfall is expected to range from 1 to 2 inches in coastal and valley regions, with mountainous areas potentially receiving twice that amount. Snow levels are anticipated to remain above 6,000 feet, with possible accumulations at higher elevations. This storm is classified as a Pineapple Express, an atmospheric river event, and is projected to be the strongest to affect the area in nearly two years.
