Low pressure system brings significant snowfall forecast
An area of low pressure is forecasted to approach the tri-state area, bringing significant snowfall from late Friday afternoon into Saturday morning. According to NBC New York, models predict up to 6 inches of snow for New York City, Long Island, and central New Jersey. Higher amounts are expected in the Hudson Valley and North Jersey, with potential accumulations reaching up to a foot in elevated areas. This will be an all-snow event for New York, Connecticut, and most of New Jersey, as temperatures are expected to remain below freezing. Areas farther southwest may experience a mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain. A winter storm watch is in effect for the entire region.
